Rethinking health and social justice activism in a post-liberal world.

On the 11th and 12th of December Flora Cornish, Cristian Montenegro and Catherine Campbell hosted a workshop at the London School of Economics to explore how global health-related activism has responded to the recent rise of anti-liberal rhetoric and politics. Over two days, scholars from South Africa, Chile, Brazil, Italy, Portugal, USA and the UK discussed the implications of increasing global inequalities, marketisation of health, populism, and intolerance for global efforts to tackle health inequalities. Participants presented creative forms of activism from their different contexts and argued for stronger collaboration between activists and academics. The workshop will lead to a special issue, to be published in the Journal of Social & Political Psychology.
